Dr Rachel O’Sullivan is a gynaecological oncologist working in Newcastle. Dr O’Sullivan’s primary interest is in providing care to women with gynaecologic malignancies, and also caring for women with premalignant conditions, abnormal cervical screening tests, risk reducing surgery, minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) and fertility sparing surgery.


Dr O’Sullivan currently works as a staff specialist for Hunter New England Health working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide care for women and their families with gynaecologic malignancies. She is also a training supervisor for general and subspeciality obstetrics and gynaecology trainees. She is currently the director of colposcopy at John Hunter Hospital and also consults at the Hunter Family Cancer Service.

Dr O’Sullivan received her medical degree from the University of Sydney. She then moved to Newcastle for internship and later completed her Obstetrics and Gynaecology training in Newcastle and Tasmania. After receiving her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, she undertook subspeciality training in gynaecological oncology.
