Dr Aiza Ahmad

Specialties

  • Rehabilitation Medicine

Dr Aiza Ahmad is a Rehabilitation Medicine Physician and the Clinical Lead for Spinal Cord Injury Service Development in the Hunter for NSW Health, where she helps shape how complex neurological rehabilitation is delivered across the region. She consults at Belmont and Gateshead and holds a hospital appointment at John Hunter Hospital, delivering both inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation.

Having practised across metropolitan, regional, and rural settings — in Australia and internationally — Dr Ahmad brings a rare breadth of perspective to the challenges her patients face, and tailors her care to the person rather than the protocol. Earlier in her career she contributed to rehabilitation services at Wingham Rehabilitation Hospital.

Her clinical work centres on three things: accurately assessing functional loss, managing disability through evidence-based care, and building the long-term independence that lets people return to the lives they want. She works within multidisciplinary teams to set clear, achievable goals and design treatment programs around each patient's circumstances.

Dr Ahmad is known for a compassionate, collaborative approach dedicated to supporting recovery and wellbeing through innovative, evidence-based rehabilitation strategies.
