Dr Meads is a fully qualified Orthopaedic Hand and wrist surgeon practicing in Newcastle.  He subspecialised in hand surgery after completing the FRACS.  He subsequently completed two surgical fellowships in the prestigious Royal North Shore Hospital and Sydney Hospital hand units.  He has been a consultant hand surgeon since 2001.  

Dr Meads has particular interests in arthritis of the hand, wrist and thumb including joint replacements.  Other interests include arthroscopic surgery of the wrist including TFCC repairs; nerve compression such as carpal tunnel, cubital tunnel and radial tunnel syndromes.  He has extensive experience in traumatic hand injuries including microvascular repairs.  

Dr Meads set up the Hand Surgery Centre in 2005 in the Newcastle Private Specialist Centre. This was set up in association with the Hand Therapy Centre. This practice has been a centre focused exclusively on treating conditions of the hand and wrist since this time.  The Hand Surgery Centre and Hand Therapy Centre are dedicated to try and provide the best standard of care possible.

 

He is an active member of the Australian Hand Surgical Society and the NSW Hand Surgical Association.
