Michael Edger is a consultant Neurosurgeon of 20 years standing in Newcastle, NSW, and a qualified medical practitioner for 32 years. Born in England, he completed his medical degree at the University of London, and trained in several hospitals in the UK, including the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square, London and the Institute of Neurological Sciences, Glasgow, before completing his neurosurgical training in Sydney.

In addition, Dr Edger is the current Director of Neurosurgery at John Hunter Hospital, having previously been Supervisor of Neurosurgical Training, appointed by the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) for over 12 years. He is also a member of the Court of Examiners in Neurosurgery for RACS.

Dr Edger consults with patients in his private consulting rooms in Newcastle CBD, as well as running outpatient clinics at the Royal Newcastle Centre located in the John Hunter Hospital. He also conducts independent medical examinations in both his Newcastle and Sydney rooms.
