A/Prof Hansen is an Australian-trained Adult and Paediatric Neurosurgeon. His surgical interests include the full gamut of neurosurgery. He is professional, highly trained, and has vast experience. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

After growing up and attending high school in Bathurst NSW A/Prof Hansen went on to complete a number of degrees at different universities in both Australia and New Zealand.

A/Prof Hansen’s neurosurgical training was completed in NSW. He had training appointments at Royal Prince Alfred, Westmead Adults, Westmead Children’s, John Hunter and Royal North Shore Hospitals. He completed a fellowship in Complex Spine Surgery at John Hunter Hospital as well as the prestigious AO Spine Fellowship at the Toronto Western Hospital in Canada.

A/Prof Hansen has extensive surgical expertise in cranial, spinal and peripheral nerve surgery. He is the first Newcastle based Neurosurgeon to utilise the Joimax endoscopic spinal surgery instruments at Lingard Private Hospital.

RESEARCH

A/Prof Hansen also has a strong focus on research, completing a Doctor of Philosophy in Medicine from the University of Sydney. He has published many articles in peer-reviewed journals and given presentations at many international conferences.

CURRENT APPOINTMENTS

A/Prof Hansen is currently a Consultant Neurosurgeon at John Hunter Adults and John Hunter Children’s and Newcastle and Lingard Private Hospitals.

He has been appointed Conjoint Associate Professor in the School of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Newcastle.
