Dr Paul Bamford is a general and structural interventional cardiologist. He holds two Master's degrees from Oxford University and began his career in London, specialising in fast-growth pharmaceutical companies within investment banking. He later transitioned to medicine, completing his medical training at the University of Warwick.

Dr Bamford's clinical journey began with his residency in Hampshire, UK, followed by advanced cardiology training on the Central Coast of New South Wales. He has been awarded both Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP, London) and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP). Furthering his sub-specialisation, Dr Bamford completed an interventional cardiology fellowship at John Hunter Hospital. His enthusiasm for structural heart disease was recognised through the prestigious Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) structural interventional scholarship. This enabled him to complete an international transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) fellowship at Leeds General Infirmary, one of the highest-volume TAVI centres in the UK and a leading institute in innovation and research in transcatheter valve therapies, under the mentorship of Professor Dan Blackman, Chair of the BCIS Structural Heart Disease Committee.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr Bamford plays an active role in medical academia. He sits on the editorial board of Heart, Lung and Circulation and serves as an editorial fellow for the Journal of Society of Angiography and Intervention, where he works with esteemed mentors Dr Cindy Grines and Prof Alexandra Lansky. Dr Bamford has authored over a dozen peer-reviewed papers, covering topics such as complex percutaneous coronary intervention, heart failure, and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). He has been a regular presenter at both national and international conferences.

Dr Bamford is dedicated to medical education and is currently completing an MPhil in transcatheter valve therapy. He has also served as a conjoint fellow at the University of Newcastle and is a member of the Academy of Clinical Educators. Clinically, his expertise includes coronary angiography, percutaneous coronary intervention, and TAVI. Additionally, he holds level A accreditation for reporting computed tomography coronary angiography (CTCA).

Balancing his passion for medicine with a love for travel, Dr Bamford has practiced in diverse settings, including Zimbabwe, Cambodia and Tanzania, enriching his global medical perspective.
