Dr Rohan Bhagwandeen is Director of Catheterization Laboratories at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital Newcastle, where he leads the TAVI program, and a senior staff specialist at the John Hunter Hospital, where he provides a TAVI service to public patients.

He is a director at Newcastle Heart, a highly regarded cardiology practice that offers comprehensive cardiac services to patients in the Hunter region.

His interventional cardiology training includes two fellowships (Austin Health Melbourne 2000 and Toronto General Canada 2001).

Rohan was a Lead of the Hunter New England Cardiac Stream from 2012-2017, advocating tirelessly for equitable health care delivery throughout the Hunter region.

He has a history of innovation in the structural heart arena introducing ASD/PFO closure and Alcohol septal ablation to the Newcastle region in 2004.

His special interests include; Reperfusion strategies for AMI, Structural Intervention (including TAVI) and Imaging / Physiology guided coronary intervention via the radial approach.

Rohan is passionate about education at a national and international level. He is a Convenor of the Essential Percutaneous Interventional Course (EPIC) and is a board member of the Hunter Postgraduate Medical Institute.

He has contributed as an invited faculty member/speaker to a variety of international meetings including Euro PCR, Asia PCR, TCTAP, AICT, AP Valves, Sri Lankan Heart Association.

Rohan contributes to National Advisory Boards and is a member of numerous Steering/Organizing Committees including; ANZ Endovascular Therapies (ANZET), ACTION DAY, Regional Australian Interventional Structural and Endovascular (RAISE) and the Asia Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC).
